SUPPORTING EQUALITY.
Love. Understanding. Equality.
These are three words that I use not only to sum up my approach to being a celebrant, but I also genuinely believe that if everyone were to approach life with a combination of all three, happiness and acceptance would no longer be something so many individuals have to fight for on a daily basis.
Sadly, the idea that everyone would suddenly put aside rigid beliefs and embrace an attitude of understanding is unrealistic; and despite efforts, even just reaching a basic level of equality across the globe is a very long way off. In the mean time, it is important for anyone who is lucky enough to have an open mind, and loving attitude to make it known. Put yourself out there, and do everything you can to make life easier for those of us who are fighting hate and inequality just for being the person they were born to be.
I am lucky enough to have been born and raised in a family, and a community that has done nothing but support me and I am incredibly grateful. To take the acceptance I have been given and share that with others as part of a thriving wedding industry here in New Zealand, I feel lucky to be able to provide a warm and welcoming service to any and every couple that approach me. As generations go on, I can only hope that some of my couples will be drivers of love, understanding, and equality, and that children will one day not have to be grateful for acceptance but instead find that they have it without question.
To summarise - this is a safe place! Whoever you are, no matter your story, YOU are welcome here!
